Acid Survivors Foundation, Pakistan The Acid Survivors Foundation Pakistan provides medical, psychosocial and legal support to the victims of acid attacks in the country, to ensure their physical reconstruction and reintegration into main stream society. The organization was created in 1986 and deals with a wide spectrum of women's welfare issues in rural and urban areas all across Pakistan. Law Against Offence

Section 336 and specially 336 (A) and 366 (B) Pakistan penal code , 1860 according to this law  336 :-   Punishment for  itlaf-i-salahiyyat-i-udw .--Whoever, by doing any act with the intention of causing hurt to any person, or with the knowledge that he is likely to cause hurt to any person, causes  itlaf-i-salahiyyat-i-udw  of any person, shall, in consultation with the  authorised  medical officer, be punished with  qisas  and if the qisas  is not executable, keeping in view the principles of equality in accordance with the Injunctions of Islam, the offender shall be liable to  arsh  and may also be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years as ta'zir . Effects On Acid Attack Victims

Physical Effects : Although rarely fatal, deaths from acid attacks have been reported due to the immediate effects of acid or complications from burns . The systematic review identified 37 deaths in acid attack victims, 2.7% of all the victims identified  Studies have shown that the risk of mortality is directly related to the amount of the victim’s total body surface area (TBSA) which was burned, with studies finding attacks which caused over 50% burns universally fatal. In acid attacks, the average TBSA burned is 14-30%  meaning victims usually survive. From studies that reported the TBSA burned in acid attacks, the systematic review found that the average patient suffered 14.4% TBSA burns, which is the lower end of the estimates of previous studies. Acid is commonly thrown at the victim’s face, leading to burns on the head, chest and arms rather than the lower limbs . Acid is usually thrown from in front of the victim, accounting for 1.6% of patients reporting injuries

Acid Attack Cases In Pakistan

  In Karachi : A man allegedly threw acid on his wife in Zaman Town over some domestic dispute, police said on Monday. They added that Yaseen attacked his wife, Reema, inside their home in Arkanabad, Sector-48-F, Korangi. The woman was admitted to the Civil Hospital Karachi with burns on the face. The man was jobless and the wife used to ask him to do some work, which infuriated him and after a quarrel he attacked his wife with acid, said the Zaman Town SHO. He said neighbours told the investigators that a heated argument erupted between the couple on Sunday at around 8am.  The suspect after throwing acid on the face of his wife fled. The woman who sustained burn wounds on one side of her face reported the incident to the police on Monday. Her condition was out of danger. The SHO said the woman had three children.
