In Karachi :


A man allegedly threw acid on his wife in Zaman Town over some domestic dispute, police said on Monday.

They added that Yaseen attacked his wife, Reema, inside their home in Arkanabad, Sector-48-F, Korangi.

The woman was admitted to the Civil Hospital Karachi with burns on the face.
The man was jobless and the wife used to ask him to do some work, which infuriated him and after a quarrel he attacked his wife with acid, said the Zaman Town SHO. He said neighbours told the investigators that a heated argument erupted between the couple on Sunday at around 8am. 

The suspect after throwing acid on the face of his wife fled. The woman who sustained burn wounds on one side of her face reported the incident to the police on Monday. Her condition was out of danger.
The SHO said the woman had three children.

In Lahore :
 A young girl suffered burns on her face in an acid attack in Defence area here on Wednesday.
According to police the girl was subjected to acid attack after she refused to marry her fiance.
According to the initial police inquiry, the girl, ‘B’, was working as a sales manager at a pharmacy in K Block market in Defence.
She left her workplace after duty hours and was waiting for a bus at a stop near the market where her fiance Azmat arrived on a motorbike. He allegedly threw acid on her face and fled the scene, the police said. The girl suffered burns on 90 percent of her face and 20pc of her body, the police said, adding that she was immediately rushed to hospital where she was said to be in a serious condition.
A case has been lodged against the suspect at the Defence A police station.

 In Rawalpindi :
 A grade-10 female student suffered burns when two motorcycle riders threw a liquid - believed to be acid - into her face in Saddar Berooni on Thursday, police said.
The mother of the student in her complaint lodged with the police said her daughter was going to school when the two motorcycle riders targeted her.
“My daughter suffered burns on her arms and hands and got her burqa burnt. However, she saved her face by covering it with her hands.”
The complainant said after the attack her daughter returned home and was taken to hospital.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Saleem Khattak said preliminary investigation showed that one of the motorcycle riders, suspected to be involved in the attack, had proposed to the girl but her parents rejected it.
He said after turning down the proposal, the parents got the girl engaged to someone else.
The police said though the boy had been nominated as the accused in the case, it was yet to be ascertained if he was involved in the attack or not.

In Jhang :

A woman and her young daughter suffered serious burns when a jilted suitor threw acid on them while they were asleep in their house in Jinnah Colony, Qaim Bhirwana, some 40km from here on Friday night.
According to Waryam police station sources, Asmat Ullah, a resident of Battimanjer village, Bhakkar district, who worked at a refrigerator workshop owned by Touseef at Qaim Bharwana, wanted to marry Shabnam Bibi of the same area.
He sent a marriage proposal to her father Haq Nawaz through Touseef. The proposal was rejected by Shabnam’s father, which enraged Asmat Ullah.
To avenge the ‘dishonor’, Asmat Ullah, along with Touseef sneaked into Haq Nawaz’s house in the night, carrying an acid bottle.
Asmat Ullah allegedly threw acid on Shabnam and her mother Mumtaz Bibi who were asleep and fled the scene. Both women suffered serious acid burns.
Waryam police, after being informed of the incident, rushed to the spot and shifted the both injured women to the district headquarters hospital where they were being treated.
According to the hospital sources, Shabnam suffered severe burns on her face, particularly her eyes, while her mother was also injured.
Police arrested Touseef immediately while Asmat went in hiding. A police team has been dispatched to Bhakkar to arrest the prime suspect.

In Swabi :
 
 A man allegedly threw acid on his wife, badly damaging her abdomen and lower part of the body. The estranged woman was recently brought back to her husband’s house by a local jirga, said police here on Sunday. However, they didn’t know the cause of the incident.
The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Kalu Khan police station, and the couple belongs to Ismalia village. The acid attack victim received 50 per cent burns and was shifted to Civil Hospital Kalu Khan where police recorded her statement. Later, she was shifted to one of the hospitals in Mardan.

It was reportedly the first incident of its kind in the district, said police and health officials.

Police officials said the man supported by his mother indulged in the heinous crime of throwing acid on her wife. The couple had been married for four years, but didn’t have a child.

Knowing about the incident, mother of the victim reached the Kalu Khan police station for registration of an FIR.

It was learnt that at the time of the incident the woman was alone in the house.
The accused, who fled the scene after committing the crime, was later arrested from the suburbs of the village, police said.
Officials said the victim remained in her parents’ house for long after the couple developed differences. However, they said they did not know what the differences were.

However, local people told police the couple frequently clashed with each other.
The police officials said the attack was aimed at inflicting physical and mental pain on the woman by her husband.
Meanwhile, a man identified as Mohammad Usman belonging to Rawalpindi drowned in the Gohati Canal when his motorcycle skidded of the road and fell into it on Sunday.

The deceased along with a colleague was on way to Charbagh village. The accident occurred near the postgraduate college. The body of the deceased was recovered later, however, his colleague was saved alive by local divers.
Meanwhile, deputy commissioner imposed section 144 on pillion-riding till the completing of the anti-polio vaccination in the district.

In Gujrat :

A woman suffered burns on her face and upper body in an acid attack by two men allegedly for refusing a marriage proposal near Service Mor in Civil Lines police limits on Tuesday.

The victim’s family told police that Nayyar, a cousin of the woman, visited their house with a friend, Mujahid, and sought their permission to stay there for a night. The family reluctantly allowed them to spend a night in their house.

The family said early in the morning, Mujahid threw acid on Mehwish (29), because she declined his marriage proposal. Mujahid was already married and a father of four children.

The affected woman was shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital’s burns unit where her condition was said to be out of danger.

A case has been registered against the nominated suspects under sections 336 (B) and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the report of Tasawar Bibi, the elder sister of the affected woman.
